01 December 2017
University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) and Everlight Radiology have been announced as a finalist in the public private partnership category in the 2016 HealthInvestor Awards for their teleradiology joint venture Radiology Reporting Online (RRO).
UCLH and Everlight invested equally to form RRO in 2011 with UCLH bringing the clinical excellence and leadership of a major foundation trust and Everlight its proprietary software, systems, processes and commercial expertise. Less than five years later, RRO now operates the largest network of teleradiology reporting centres across the UK.
RRO provides general and sub-specialty radiology reporting services to support radiology departments within NHS and private hospitals in the UK. Utilising a ‘follow the sun’ business model with offices in the UK and Australia, RRO specialises in urgent out of hours emergency reporting providing a 24/7 reporting service, delivered by GMC specialist, FRCR radiologists.
RRO has been able to deliver a highly scalable consultant led, out of hours service by recruiting GMC specialist, FRCR radiologists from the UK and establishing them in Australia. This ensures that referring clinicians and their patients receive a report from a radiologist working during daylight hours from an office environment, with the ability to confer with colleagues on complex cases.
Daniel Souriel, CEO, Radiology Reporting Online commented, “This is a unique partnership in the radiology sector and has proven that public and private partnerships can bring improved efficiency in processes as well as much needed cost savings in the the NHS. The service has also improved patient care with shorter wait times for scan results. We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award.”
