Responding to the Independent Investigation, Everlight Radiology UKI/MEA CEO Daniel Sourial said:
"The Independent Investigation into the state of the NHS in England, chaired by Lord Darzi, highlights the critical need for innovation and the adoption of technology to help address the significant challenges facing the NHS. The review has shown that it’s more important than ever that all parts of the healthcare system work effectively together.
The challenges highlighted by Lord Darzi need to be seen alongside the separate challenge of an acute and growing shortage of radiologists to read reports. Radiology plays a vital part in more than 80% of patient episodes, and research has already revealed there is a global shortage of in-house radiologists to report on medical imaging. Teleradiology offers a powerful means to enhance patient care, improve efficiency, reduce waiting lists for treatment across areas like cancer care (flagged in the report as an area of concern), as well as democratise access to high-quality and timely healthcare services.
As a trusted partner to NHS providers, Everlight Radiology is committed to delivering exceptional teleradiology services. These can help accelerate the reform that has today been highlighted as needed. Our ability to retain NHS trained doctors working remotely through our technology offers a highly ethical approach in also helping solve the manpower crisis, keeping NHS trained doctors within the NHS, wherever they may be in the world.
We look forward to playing our part in helping support our friends and colleagues in the NHS as they embark on the delivery of the 10-year plan."
