This appointment allows us to bring our world-class, 24/7 teleradiology reporting services to public hospitals across the country, providing critical support where and when it’s needed most.

Addressing the healthcare challenge head-on

It’s no secret that healthcare systems globally are under immense pressure. In New Zealand, this translates to challenges like growing waiting lists for diagnostic imaging and significant strain on local radiology teams. These pressures can lead to diagnostic delays, which in turn affect patient treatment and outcomes.

Our mission is to help solve these challenges. By providing round-the-clock reporting, we can:

  • Tackle reporting backlogs: We provide additional reporting capacity to help hospitals clear their backlog of scans, ensuring patients get their results faster.
  • Deliver critical after-hours coverage: Medical emergencies don’t stick to a 9-to-5 schedule. Our “follow-the-sun” model means that a scan performed at 2 AM in Auckland is read moments later by an alert, expert radiologist working in their daytime. This provides immediate support to emergency departments and on-call clinicians.
  • Supporting local radiologists, not replacing them: Radiologist burnout is a serious concern. Our service is designed to be a seamless extension of the local hospital team. We handle the overnight workload and provide extra capacity during the day, allowing on-site radiologists to focus on complex cases, patient interaction, and maintaining a sustainable work-life balance. We see ourselves as trusted colleagues, working in the background to support the incredible work being done on the front lines.

Our commitment to partnership and quality

At the heart of this new chapter is a deep commitment to the people of New Zealand. As Wayne Hartmann, ANZSA Chief Executive Officer, puts it:

"We are honoured to partner with Te Whatu Ora and deepen our commitment to the New Zealand healthcare community. Our focus is on providing timely, high-quality reports to support local clinical teams and ensure all New Zealanders have access to the best possible diagnostics, regardless of location or time of day."

This partnership ensures that every public hospital, from the busiest urban centre to the most remote regional facility, has access to consistent, high-quality reporting and sub-specialty expertise around the clock.

We are incredibly proud to embark on this journey with Te Whatu Ora and look forward to contributing to a stronger, more resilient healthcare system for all of Aotearoa.
