Minerva Becker studied medicine at the University of Berne in Switzerland and specialized in Radiology at the Insel Hospital, University of Berne.

Early in her career, she specialized in head and neck radiology and many of her scientific publications focus on radiologic-pathologic correlation, on the diagnostic performance of multiparametric MRI, CT and PET CT in assessing head and neck pathologies.

She is the author of over 140 scientific articles in peer reviewed journals PubMed (H index = 37), 16 book chapters, 150 abstracts/proceedings. She is co-editor of Valvassouri's Head and Neck Imaging. She is the recipient of 29 prestigious international and national scientific awards. She leads the Research Group on Head and Neck Radiology at the University of Geneva. She is reviewer for 12 scientific journals and has served on Editorial boards of international journals. She is external expert for university nominations/promotions at the Universities of Geneva, Marseille, Lille and University College London. For her research, she has obtained funding by 7 competitive grants supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Her main fields of research include head and neck oncology, base of the skull and post-treatment imaging, salivary glands, as well as new imaging techniques, multiparametric and texture analysis tools in view of a personalized treatment approach.

She is currently Full Professor of Radiology and Head of the Imaging Unit of Head and Neck and Maxillofacial Radiology, Diagnostic Department at the Geneva University Hospital.

She is an enthusiastic teacher with over 450 invited lectures at international and national meetings. She is in charge of the undergraduate radiology program UIDC 1st year MA in medicine at the University of Geneva. Her undergraduate teaching activities at the University of Geneva include 140 annual teaching hours, as well designing teaching materials in the field of head and neck radiology, dental radiology, chest radiology and abdominal radiology.

As Chairman of the Education Committee of the European Society of Head and Neck Radiology (ESHNR), she is in charge the European general and subspecialty training curriculum in head and neck radiology and of the European Board in Head and Neck Radiology Diploma. She has organized 8 international meetings/courses focussing on head and neck radiology. She is Past President of the ESHNR and Honorary Member of the European Laryngological Society.

Since March 2021, she is the Chairman of the Education Committee of the European Society of Radiology (ESR)
