A patient with worsening chronic renal failure presents with confusion. What's the diagnosis?

There is bilateral symmetric non-enhancing low attenuation of the lentiform nucleus, with adjacent odema. There is no putaminal or globus pallidus sparing. There is severe bilateral arterial calcification evident at the scalp. In this clinical context the findings most likely represent uraemic encephalopathy
